Ionic Car Air Purifier Safety

Ionic car air purifiers are derived from many different technologies. All of these technologies contain at least one reactive agent that cleans the air that we breathe. The manufacturers of these technologies willfully publish the positive effects of their products but do not necessarily talk about the negative effects of their products. It is widely known that ozone can be damaging to human health and it is also widely known ionizers and ozone based purification technology are totally different. It may be true that ionizers produce a small amount of ozone, but it is considered a safe amount.

Ionic air purifiers do not deliberately product any ozone. The ionizers currently on the market are unable to completely remove ozone from their emissions because of technological constraints. Small amounts of ozone particles are created at the same time as the positive reactive agents. These are the negative and positive ions, bipolar ions, and plasmacluster ions. The question on everyones minds however, is just how much ozone is actually produced. Almost all manufacturers cite that their emissions are extremely low. The accepted average is to be less than fifty parts per billion.

Most people point out that there is no legislations or scientific backing for the 50 ppb limit. There is some scientific evidence that agrees that staying bellow fifty parts per billion is safe. In a 2008 scientific study it was shown that exposure of 60 ppb ozone over six and a half hours only caused a small effect on the lungs of 24 of the 30 adults tested. This definitely gives legitimacy to the 50 ppb limit.

What it really comes down to is to use common sense with ionic car air purifier safety. If you are using it and you feel that your nose or throat are a little irritated then turn it off for the rest of the ride. If you have a family member who you know it bothers in the car, then turn it off. After all, all we really want this for is to remove odors. You don't even need to be in the car when using it. We use our heads when using many of the appliances that have become part of everyday life. You should do the same for your air purifier.
